Here's an exclusive look into some of the offerings I'll be having in my book. This is more of just a "preview" tutorial, and not really a full-blown tute with the level of detail I would have in the book itself. Still, this topic will definitely make it to the book, albeit revised with more detail and with better visual examples of course. I just put this tute together in a couple minutes. Think of it as a 'teaser' for the stuff yet to come.
FYI, the term "Animeister" here is not the same Animeister (Jeff) of Deviant Art. It's a name I (and probably a couple thousand other people) conjured up a couple lonely nights and years ago.
And all this time I've been doing it with the pen tool! Heh never thought about just copying and removing excess paths before. Actually I sometimes use live paint for coloring, and then I just expand the live paint group and I'm done.
LivePaint seemed to work as advertised for me in the beginning but then it got quirky and I got all frustrated over having to 'design' the lines and shapes the way Illustrator wanted me to. That didn't do me good for time conservation. I "accidentally" found this method while teaching my students Illustrator. I was showing them how they could use the paste-in-front command and then I realised "Hey.... this thing can be used for colouring". It's now a regular topic in my classes : )
Really good tutorial, just what i need. i found it really difficult to get the colouring correct on a piece i recently done, now with this i may be able to revisit it and hopefully post up a better final, thanks ^^
Yup, I'll try doing other tutes for NEWBs and AVERs (those are trademarked terms in my book). Been looking at which ones to do for teasers... don't want to spoil all the fun before the thing arrives eh.
