This is my contest entry for Wacom Asia Pacific's 2nd Manga Contest. The theme is about your "first love". The picture pretty much tells the story, although I've exaggerated the girl's clothing a bit to reflect a nicer style of uniform.

I'd ride that bike for an hour from my place to hers and take her on rides through the fields. Nice days.

This is still a WIP (work in progress) I'm just submitting it now because even without the shading, highlights and brush strokes added to the vector I think I've still accomplished enough to stiffen the competition up a bit ;)

Good luck to whoever else joins. Great fun! Oh and Pleeease comment on this CG... pleeeease!

Technical Info:
art and sketch: Adobe Illustrator CS 2
bicycle: Cinema 4D r10

The bike was modeled in Cinema 4D and rendered out with Sketch n Toon. I used the render as a trace reference for the composition. Blur effects are all done in Adobe Illustrator as well.

Nice wheels with no spokes! Haha... This is great. It's got that nostalgic look with the blur... But the colors make it really friendly.
Actually it's spinning fast enough not to see (and the reason you can see the gears is coz they don't spin as fast) :P

but yeah, I think I'll try to un-laze myself and draw in some whirry lines...

I'm also still going to add in the grass being thrown up by the wheels. Overall it doesn't seem to convey a strong sense of speed yet (without all these extras).

As for the colour, yep. Trying for the nostalgic look, but I s';pose I better use Photoshop for the effect. I've just done a quick blurred overlay here and it's not exactly what I've envisioned it to be.

Time is against me :(
Oh, right. Well I actually though something would be thrown up by the wheels.

Hope you have enough time to finish.
I hope so myself! Thanks :)
Aw this picture is so cute. I love the little dog and the boy. He looks so happy. It really is a cute picture.
AWw, that's the second time someone's mentioned how happy the boy looks *blushez*

This is probably the first decent CG (that can be shown to younger audiences) I've done in ages.
